This was the day I got to taste a raft of wines from a number of producers from central and northern Italy. I joined Jeff and Ken for a mini-marathon of often gruesome tasting experiences. We whirled and sniffed and washed out our mouths, retasted, repeat repeat repeat, retasted if the wine was promising, and RE-restasted it if we were really intrigued by it.
After about 25-30 bottles, it came down to two producers and six bottles. Really five.
You'd think it would be easy to add to a portfolio -- hundreds of producers chase after each importer, or so it seems. But, no. It isn't very easy at all. It would be if we wanted to import mouthwash. But that's another channel of distribution entirely.
